Join Alexis Ellers of Bummer City Studio and HUME for an evening of activist embroidery.

“5.4 Million and Counting” is a collaborative quilting project demonstrating public support for legal and safe abortion access. The completed quilt will bear 5.4 tally marks representing the 5.4 million women who will lose access to abortion in Texas if Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt is upheld. Members of the public may contribute to the quilt by embroidering tally marks on 10″x10″ fabric squares.

At the end of the evening we will count up our tallies and mail our panels to be sewn into the quilt. We have some supplies, but feel free to bring any of the following: thread/embroidery floss, needles, hoops and fabric (big enough for 10″ squares), friends, and snacks.

All skill levels are welcome.
